Christian Roy, Ph.D., Eng. Vice President, Business Development
Christian Roy is co-founder of Vaperma Inc, and co-inventor of Siftek™ polymer membrane technology. Prior to joining Vaperma on a permanent basis in 2005, Christian was a full time professor of Chemical Engineering at the Université Laval (Québec, QC). He is recognized as a world authority in "vacuum pyrolysis". He founded in 1988 Pyrovac, an R&D company whose chief mission was to develop new technologies in the environmental and renewable energy areas. One of his achievements was the design and construction of a $20 M vacuum pyrolysis industrial demonstration plant in Quebec, Canada, which throughput capacity was 65 tons per day.
Dr. Roy holds a Ph.D. from the Université de Sherbrooke (QC, Canada) and a M.Sc from McGill University in Montreal, QC. His investigations covered topics such as of biomass and used tire vacuum pyrolysis and the development of high-temperature, solvent-resistant polymeric membranes. He is the author of more than 200 scientific papers and he was granted with over 30 patents.
He is the recipient of numerous awards such as the Thomas W. Eadie Medal from the Royal Society of Canada, the Killam Research Fellowship from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Albright and Wilson Americas Award from the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering, and the prestigious E.W.R.
