Chatham, 2008, A Joint Demonstration Project With GreenField Ethanol (GFE)
As a result of successful test program in Tiverton, a Siftek™ full scale demonstration system was initiated at GFE’s Chatham plant. The Chatham project is a skid-mounted system of 20 m3/day (5,300 Gal/day).
It includes full heat integration and permeate recovery of the Siftek™ system within the GFE plant. Feed supply is taken directly from the beer column. The Chatham system was installed in May-June 2008 and commissioning started in July 2008.
The main objectives of the Chatham full scale demonstration system are as follows:
- Demonstrate the efficiency of Siftek™ membrane system under real plant operating conditions
- Confirm the effectiveness of 2 stage modules working in parallel
- Establish capability of Vaperma to successfully produce high quality membranes, modules, and systems at an industrial scale
- Develop tools to quantify, verify, and report the GHG emission reductions achieved by the application of Vaperma’s Siftek™ membrane technology
